Millions of Jobs, Billions of Dollars, Compound in the Salesforce Economy

This article was published on May 26, 2020

1.9 Million Jobs and $389 Billion in GDP Worldwide – these are the figures from the most recent IDC report on the Salesforce economy.

If you visit San Francisco, the shear dominance of Salesforce is evident. Sure, daily TV shows and magazines paint the tech-savvy city as a haven for Google, Apple, Facebook and other prominent names in consumer markets. But take a walk down Market Street and gaze up at the skyscrapers in the financial district of SF and one name rules the city … Salesforce.

About this time last year, IDC pegged Salesforce for 1 million jobs and $272 billion by 2018. Clearly that number has grown and will continue to grow. Why? Because the cloud business is booming and will continue to boom.

If you want evidence, you need only look to the company’s upcoming annual conference, Dreamforce. No other conference on Earth generates the amount of business buzz as this colossal gathering of tech nerds and suits. Almost overnight, San Francisco will grow by 170,000 people representing top global businesses. All-star speakers like Tony Robbins, Marc Cuban and Melinda Gates will take to the stage. Hundreds of deals will be struck by eager businessmen looking to hit their quarterly quotas, thousands of cloud employees will celebrate at local parties, and not to mention, the Salesforce sponsored U2 concert will drive a crowd of eager Dreamforce goers.

If that sounds like an ostentatious show that only an elite company could pull off, you’re exactly right. And Salesforce can continue to run such a grandiose rodeo because of its massive – and expanding – following. Just check out some of these stats from IDC:

  • Though it’s already created a billion-dollar economy, Salesforce has room to grow. Today, public cloud computing accounts for less than 5 percent of IT spend. But despite its small share of the $2 trillion IT market, it is growing at 4.5 times the rate of IT spending since 2009, and expected to grow more than 6 times the rate of IT spending from 2015 through 2020.
  • To date, Salesforce customers have installed apps from the Salesforce AppExchange more than 4 million times.
  • To date, Salesforce customers, partners, and developers have earned 1 million badges on Trailhead, the Salesforce self-guided learning and training environment.
  • By 2020, for every dollar earned by Salesforce, the company’s ecosystem will gain $4.14.

The honey pot is not just Salesforce exclusive, and NewVoiceMedia can attest to that. As the top cloud communications platform in the Salesforce community on the AppExchange, NewVoiceMedia has more than benefited from the success of Salesforce. Since its inception NewVoiceMedia has grown exponentially due to its close relationship with Salesforce. In just the past few years, the company has more than doubled its U.S. presence, and it continues to attract top-tier clientele.

Companies looking to boost their inside sales team performance or improve their customer service can generate great returns by using Salesforce in tandem with NewVoiceMedia. That’s the secret to the company’s success; Salesforce has created a master CRM platform that has an open door for innovation. Companies like NewVoiceMedia that work with Salesforce can swim in that billion-dollar revenue stream with plenty of water to go around.
